Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)
丝瓜APP University has partnered with Wellfleet Insurance Company to offer a robust and student-focused insurance policy to meet the needs of all individuals on campus.
The 丝瓜APP University Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) annual premium is $2,653. The plan is available through Wellfleet Insurance Company. The coverage term begins on August 1, 2026 and ends July 31, 2027.
丝瓜APP University mandates that all student-athletes and undergraduate international students maintain health insurance that complies with the Affordable Care Act. The university has partnered with Wellfleet to offer a robust health insurance plan tailored for these students.
Both student-athletes and international students must engage in the waiver process facilitated by Wellfleet. Upon automatic enrollment in the portal, students have the opportunity to apply for a waiver during the fall and spring enrollment periods by providing their current insurance details. Those who do not secure an approved waiver within this timeframe will be automatically enrolled in the plan and will incur the associated fee.
The University will not continue its partnership with Wellfleet in the same capacity for the 2026-27 school year and voluntary enrollment opportunity to domestic undergraduate or graduate students will no longer be offered.

Account Access
丝瓜APP students can access their Wellfleet account to review coverage and benefits or submit a claim by visiting the .
International students and student-athletes are automatically enrolled in the Wellfleet program and the annual premium charge is on their student ledger. If students have individual or dependent health insurance, they can log into their Wellfleet account to submit a waiver. Current healthcare coverage must meet all insurance requirements before you can be considered for a waiver. The Fall term wavier period will close on September 12, 2025. If your waiver is approved, it will take approximately 7-10 days for the charge to be removed from your student ledger.
Waiver Criteria
Due to their limited coverage offerings, international travel plans or plans that only offer catastrophic/emergency coverage will not meet the 丝瓜APP waiver criteria.
Due to geographic coverage restrictions and limitations, out-of-state Medicaid plans will not meet the 丝瓜APP waiver requirements.
Alternate health insurance plans without a U.S. mailing address for provider medical claim submission and U.S. phone number for customer service will not be accepted for waivers. Plans including, but not limited to, those listed below will not be accepted for waivers as these plans are not recognized/accepted by the majority of U.S. health care providers and facilities:

Your ID card must be presented when utilizing your plan. This card can be printed or can be provided as a digital card.
Print Your SHIP Identification Card

Students using the 丝瓜APP University Student Health Insurance Plan should use in-network providers for medical needs. In-network providers are part of Cigna OAP Choice Plus.

To learn if a specific medication is covered, select 鈥淲ellfleet RX Pharmacy Formulary鈥� on the Wellfleet website. Some medications may require a prior authorization before the Plan will cover them.

International students and December graduates may qualify for a fall or spring premium only. The Fall premium is $1,112 and coverage will be August 1 鈥� December 31, 2026. The Spring premium is $1,541 and coverage will be January 1 鈥� July 31, 2026. This premium will be available to any new student starting classes in January who meets eligibility criteria.
